1987
Married by lamplight
A February evening, a crowded little hall, and a power cut halfway through the vows. Someone brought lamps; nobody wanted the lights back.
1992
The first restaurant
Twelve seats, one stove, and Priya's grandmother's recipes. We burned the first service and sold out the second.
1999
The years abroad
Three cities in nine years - new kitchens, new winters, and the same two chairs pulled close at the end of every shift.
2014
The homecoming
Back to the old neighbourhood with two grown children and one battered recipe book. The stove lit on the first try; we took it as a sign.
