Evite alternatives: one payment, WhatsApp delivery
Evite has been sending online invitations since 1998, and for plenty of gatherings it is still the sensible choice. The difference shows up in two places: what happens to the price as your guest list grows, and how the invitation reaches a guest who is not on a US or Canadian number.
We send wedding invitations on WhatsApp. Every guest gets their own link, addressed to them, and you pay once for the invitation whatever the guest count. Below is an honest comparison, with a source and a date against every claim we make about Evite.
What Evite does well
Evite is a large, established product with a wide free design catalogue across birthdays, baby showers, business events and weddings. You can send by email or by text, track RSVPs as they arrive, send reminders and message guests.
It also tells you who has opened. Evite’s help centre is clear about this: once a guest opens and views your invitation, the guest list shows “Viewed” under that guest’s name — on free and Premium invitations alike. We are not the only product that does open tracking, and we will not pretend otherwise. Paperless Post and Greenvelope both offer it too.
Evite also runs a free product called Event Pages for casual plans, with no fees and no app for hosts or guests.
Where we are different
- Delivery.We bulk-send on WhatsApp, and each guest receives a personalised link of their own. Evite’s own documentation says text invitations are only supported to numbers registered in the US or Canada; international guests have to be added by email or shareable link.
- Price shape. Evite’s Premium price is banded by how many guests you add, from $17.99 for up to 12 guests to $99.99 for up to 750. Ours is one payment per invitation template, and it does not move with the guest count.
- What comes in the box. RSVP dashboard, guest list, seating and table planner, and several events in one invitation with maps and timelines. The planning tools are free to use.

When Evite is the better choice
We would rather you picked the right tool than picked us. Evite fits better in these cases.
- You want something free for a casual party. Evite’s free designs cost nothing to send. If it is a barbecue or a birthday, there is no reason to pay $29.
- Your whole guest list is on US or Canadian numbers. If nobody on your list is abroad, texting is a perfectly good channel and WhatsApp delivery buys you nothing.
- You want it out in ten minutes. Pick an Evite design, type the details, share the link. Our custom design work takes one to two weeks, or three days via the paid fast-delivery add-on.
- You have a very small guest list. Evite’s entry package covers up to 12 guests for $17.99, which is less than we charge. For a dozen people, the maths is on their side.
- It is not a wedding. Evite covers birthdays, baby showers, graduations and business events with a much larger catalogue. We build wedding invitations, and our library is small by comparison.
If none of those describe you — a long guest list, family in several countries, a wedding with more than one event — that is where we tend to fit.
