When to send save the dates
Six to twelve months before the wedding, once the date and the venue are both locked. The right point in that range depends on how far your guests have to come.
Nine to twelve months
Guests flying in, or a wedding abroad. People need to plan leave and book travel, so hold the day for them as early as you can.
Six to nine months
A local guest list. Early enough that weekends are still open, late enough that your plans will not move underneath it.
Under six months
Skip the save the date and send the invitation itself - splitting the two this close together just delays the RSVP.

When should we send save the dates?
Six to twelve months before the wedding, and as soon as the date and venue are both locked. Guests who will need flights or leave sit at the early end of that range.
Do we need save the dates at all?
Only if there is a real gap between knowing your date and being ready to invite properly. If your invitations are going out nine months ahead anyway, a save the date is an extra step you can skip.
What is the difference between a save the date and the invitation?
A save the date holds the day: the two names, the date, and the town or country if guests will travel. The invitation follows later with the venues, the schedule and the RSVP.
Can guests RSVP on a save the date?
No, and that is deliberate. A save the date asks guests to keep the day, not to commit to it. They can add the date to their calendar in one tap, and the reply comes with the invitation.
How do guests receive it?
As their own link. Send it on WhatsApp from your dashboard, by text, or any way you like - it opens on any phone with nothing to install.
Can we change it after sending?
Yes. A save the date is a live page, so if the plan moves you update it once and every guest sees the current version at the same link.
